Merry Christmas Everybody!

Hit the jump for some Christmas cheer!

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Poodle.

The furry children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of agility shows danced in their heads,

When out in the woods, Owls arose such a clatter
I sprang from the bed because the birds matter
Away to the window while grabbing my flash
Finger on the shutter, threw up the sash

With big round eyes and head rotating so quick,
I knew in a moment the list was getting a tick

Ignoring the many warnings, St. Nick went straight to work
First trembled in his stockings, then turned with a jerk
There laid three growling Poodles staring up at his nose
Hauling ass, back up the chimney he rose!

I would like to exclaim, while a post I type
Happy Christmas to all my readers, who graciously view what I write.

Clearly a poet I am not, but I do want to thank everyone for spending time to read my musings here at Intrigued. It has been a tough year as we continue to navigate through the pandemic and the many implications and inconveniences that have come as a result. Hopefully you can at least embrace the holiday spirit, enjoy family and friends (at least to the best of your abilities as some of you out there are in forced lockdowns) and most of all, step back from the stress, remember the core values of a civil society, resist entities that try to divide us and, most of all, look with hope to the future.

    1. I’ve mentioned before it looks like a Hallmark store puked in my house ha! We have no shortage of trees in the house- luckily only the big one is real as that one alone makes it smell like a full pine forest ha! Merry Christmas to you and your family Tmothy – did you get any shots of Santa crossing through moon?

    1. Thanks Jan! You should have heard the frustration coming out of the room Linda was trying to get that picture of the boys in – like trying to herd cats when it comes to these high strung poodles – especially the new one. We were at one of our favorite places – South Padre Island – when that shot of us was taken and we were enjoying life as relatively new retirees. We are actually heading back down there again very soon. Appreciate you dropping by Jan – apologies for the late response, for some reason you comment got stuck in my moderation queue – hopefully that will not happen for any future comments. Hmmmm, perhaps there just might be one in the hopper – will have to wait and see, although my time is very tight at the moment as we finish out the holiday celebrations and gear up for our next big expedition which will hopefully get me a lot more +1s to cover in ”22 (or ’23 or ’24 hahahaha). Merry Christmas Lisa – Linda, I and the furry kids all had a fantastic time – although the puppy was completely out of control being his first Santa experience – running around like a mad dog laying claim to every new toy and treat regardless if the tag said his name or one of his brothers. At one point it looked like someone turned on a leaf blower and filled the room with wrapping paper, bows, boxes, tissue paper, tails and fur! – I imagine this is what Whoville was like! Thanks for dropping by Lisa and best wishes for a great year of enjoying the great outdoors.

      1. Well the new guy obviously hasn’t learned to read! I love your reference to Whoville! Years ago, my mother had 3 mini dachshunds & when I spent Christmas with her, I can remember wrapping paper, tissue, bows, pieces of boxes, as well as toys and treats just covering the living room. I used to say it was their favorite holiday. Appreciate your kind wishes, Brian. All the best to you & Linda in 2022, as well! 🌞

I must admit, I was writing that post and had the news on in the background – so sick of the nonstop doom and gloom crap that is running 7×24 and decided I’ve had enough – time to focus on what really matters. I am definitely ooking forward to reading about all your adventures next year. Note, we are currently headed in your direction for a little birding of our own (and hopefully fill the hopper for ’22 posts!)         1. Will do! Our main question right now is whether we can get our RV in to the older Houston airport – Hobby I think is what it is called. We have to pick up Ron there and Linda is worried about whether they have an area to accommodate our 10′ height. Linda had a very bad experience with the Denver airport and gets nervous with airports we are not familiar with.

    1. You are too kind Donna. The live one in front comes in around 13.5 feet. Quite the effort to get it all the way home being that it hung out so far in my truck bed – looked like someone stuck some wheels on the end of a tree and the Keebler Elves were dragging it down the road. Had to take the back routes to make it around the congested areas before finally hitting the country roads to our house. For the last month or so it made our whole house smell like a pine forest ha! Appreciate you dropping by and looking forward to all your wildlife captures in the coming year. Stay safe.
